My name is James Bellicchi. I am an NYC based chef looking to serve thoughtfully prepared honest food to the local community. I was raised in Boston MA, spending my formative years in the Harvard Square area. I moved to New York City in 1997 after earning an associates degree in Culinary Arts from the New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier,VT. Throughout my career I have worked in some of New York’s finest restaurants (Gramercy Tavern, AZ restaurant, the 21 Club. I recently left my position as executive chef for a large investment bank. Running a large operation dictates that I would mostly direct and rarely get the opportunity to cook. Though I am able to handle the stresses of the job, I look forward to being able to create and execute great food with my own two hands. I love to cook for family and friends, preparing everything from simple outdoor barbeques to multi-course sit down dinners. I am proficient in the cuisines of Italy, Japan, and France but feel comfortable working with unfamiliar recipes and foods. I prefer to cook with local/seasonal products, letting the ingredients speak for themselves, I also see the value in preparing dishes following a recipe as I always find I learn something new in the process. My mother was a well-known macrobiotic chef in the mid 60’s - 80’s. She studied under Michio Kushi (the father of the macrobiotic food movement in the US) and Hiroshi Hayashi (Master Japanese Chef) with whom I worked 10 years later at the age of 15. Working with Chef Hayashi, I was exposed to the simple, clean style of Japanese cuisine, as well proper knife skills, both of which have served me very well throughout my career. I am passionate about serving great food and helping the community around me Best James J. Bellicchi

He was also featured in Mariano’s Chicago Chefs Cookbook, named a Mariano’s Tastemaker in Chicago Magazine, and recognized by Modern Luxury and CS Magazine as one of the “6 Best Private Chefs in Chicago.” Yet for Sebastian, none of this work is about recognition. Food and gardening become ways of meeting young people where they are, inviting them into relationship with their own choices, their own voice, and their own worth. Rooted in existential and phenomenological traditions, Sebastian sees cooking and growing as practices of remembering: that healing begins in being witnessed, and that dignity and care take shape in the small, steady acts of nurturing what is already there

Chef Marissa

Professional Chef

Chef Marissa

Miami Beach, FL

I’m Chef Marissa, and my cooking is rooted in the meals I grew up with food that brings people together and makes them feel cared for. My Michigan upbringing and my Oma’s cooking shaped that foundation, while living and working in Miami expanded my palate and brought fresh influences to my kitchen. The result is food with warmth, personality, and thoughtful attention to flavor. With more than 12 years of culinary experience, I bring a background in luxury hospitality, plant-based cooking, private household dining, and restaurant ownership. A Johnson & Wales University graduate, I helped open 1 Hotel South Beach and worked across its dining outlets. My experience there also included preparing raw and plant-based cuisine under Chef Matthew Kenney. I later founded Hungry Eyes Kitchen, a chef-driven concept inside Bob’s Your Uncle in Miami Beach. The experience I value most is the trust I’ve built with long-term private clients. Cooking for someone regularly means learning more than their favorite dishes, it means understanding their routines, preferences, appetite, and what makes a meal enjoyable for them. I’m comfortable moving between an elegant multi-course dinner and a familiar comfort-food favorite, giving both the same care. I create menus around the people at the table. Whether you enjoy bold flavors, prefer simple preparations, or need vegan, gluten-free, or other dietary accommodations, I want your meals to feel personal and satisfying. I work with clients in South Florida and Asheville, North Carolina, and travel with households seasonally. From sourcing ingredients to leaving your kitchen spotless, I take care of the entire experience. My goal is for you to feel understood, well fed, and completely at ease with food you look forward to eating.

Alejandro Garcia Candelas

Private Sushi Chef

Alejandro Garcia Candelas

Marietta, GA

Alex Candelas began his journey into Japanese gastronomy over 20 years ago, drawn to the artful balance of centuries-old traditions and the profound cultural connections created through food. His passion for Japanese cuisine blossomed into a desire to share these experiences in a more personal and intimate setting—where every moment and flavor can be fully appreciated. And so, HomemakaseATL was born. “Food is more than just a meal—it’s an expression of love, a gateway to culture, and a bond that brings people closer. Growing up, cooking was always about family and home, about building memories and sharing affection. The food my mother made wasn’t extraordinary in technique, but it brought me immense joy as a child. As a chef, I aim to bring that same kind of love into your home through my craft. That’s the heart of HomemakaseATL.” Alex now lives in North Atlanta with his wife, Irina, and their two children.
