Our founder, Chef Austin Yancey, worked in restaurant kitchens for most of his life.
After leaving the industry to become a private chef, he was struck by the radical difference in earnings compared to restaurant work. He discovered the joy of private chef life, and wanted to share that lifestyle with more chefs like himself.
Chef Austin founded EPC as a means to empower and share the flexible, lucrative, professional and fulfilling lifestyle of a personal chef. He wanted to create a sustainable alternative for industry colleagues to the exhausting career of cooking in restaurants.

At EPC, our mission is to empower chefs to be financially independent. For that reason, our chefs have a path to earn a stake in the company through a shared options pool reserved for our workers.
Our goal is to support our co-workers in every way possible, including sharing in the ownership of the company, in sharp contrast to a hospitality industry that works chefs to the bone and leaves them with nothing to show for it.
who can be an elite personal chef?
We welcome any chef who has been burned out by the hospitality industry – who is sick of being underpaid and overworked – to apply and join us in our mission.
You do not need private chef experience, but you should know your way around a professional kitchen, and be able to execute a wide range of cuisines – as our customers have a wide range of tastes and dietary preferences. You should also have refined hospitality skills, and know how to speak to customers. Applicants should be excited to learn the ropes under an experienced private chef.

We will connect you with an EPC chef who will show you the ropes of working as a private chef – including executing private events and weekly meal prep. You will always be paid for any work you do with us.

Your EPC mentor will continue to work with you until you feel comfortable to start taking gigs and weekly clients on your own.

EPC will continue to guide you through your growth as a private chef, while serving you your own private event and weekly meal prep customers.

As you build your client base, and earn more than you thought possible for a chef, your contributions to EPC will grow your stake in our chef options pool. As the company grows, our success will be shared with the workers like you who make EPC the best company in the culinary industry.

As an Elite Personal Chef, we offer not just leads and new customers, but mentorship and a path to working in the culinary industry on your own terms, outside of restaurants. Our chefs earn more, work less, and enjoy the work that they do as a part of our chef co-operative.
Throughout your journey as an EPC chef, you’ll have lots of questions about how to operate as an independent chef. Our team prides itself on being extremely experienced and supportive, so regardless of the type of gig, you will have experts on hand to answer any questions you have.
We will teach you to execute private events for large groups and earn thousands of dollars in a single night, and at the same time to service weekly recurring clients, who help you maintain a steady income stream. Our chefs can expect to earn upwards of $100K in their first year, while working less than they would at a restaurant.
